our update…
Current mood: angstyI am currently camping out in a bus outside of the hotel where my friends are sleeping tonight. We played in Boston this evening. A new club we hadn’t played before. Somewhat frustrating, sound wise, but a pretty good night. All day I craved spice-y tuna sushi rolls or clam chowder. I found neither, and ended up eating an “organic” burger that gave me a minor panic attack. It tasted good, though. We’ve been very pleasantly surprised by all of you who have come out to these shows thus far. It has been one of the most enlightening tours we’ve been a part of in the past year. We have fallen in love with “ice palace”, the opening band on this tour. They are amazing people who seem so excited and grateful for every show they play. It seems obvious, but it’s a passion that you forget when you tour the whole country 3 times a year. It becomes far too easy to take a pretty great life for granted.
And Cloud Cult… Its like touring with your parents, in the best possible way. The men and women in that band remind us nightly that cynicism is not a requirement of getting older. The belief in art and creativity that those people exhibit every night is extremely humbling. I’m very guilty of becoming the class clown when times get tough, but these motherfuckers stick to their guns. They have a live painter on stage for Christ’s sake! It’s inspiring to see people stick to a vision. Especially when that vision is pretty beautiful.
In conclusion, thanks for coming out on this tour,
And let’s all keep creating things we like, regardless of whether or not those things are in style.
The cynic in me says, ‘it’s all rigged, so get paid!’, but I’m reminded of a cloud cult lyric, “believe in you, no one else can do that for you.”
And tomorrow I might not agree with that sentiment, but tonight it feels right,
More soon,
