The Wailers @ Minnesota Zoo – Tonight!

The Legendary Wailers features founding members of reggae icon Bob Marley’s backing band.  Centering around founding members Bassist Aston “Family Man” Barrett and Guitarist Al Anderson, the handpicked line-up of talented musicians helps keep the music, spirit, and love of Bob Marley alive in the hearts of fans worldwide.  Through renditions of classic Rastafarian anthems as well as new innovations created by the current band, The Wailers continue to delight concertgoers in every corner of the globe.  Don’t miss an opportunity to relive the magic and joy that was the life and times of Bob Marley as The Wailers descend on the Minnesota Zoo’s intimate Weesner Family Amphitheatre this Friday, June 25th at 7:30pm for an evening of Positive Vibrations and spirited Jamming.

Formally carrying the name Nice Nice since 1999, guitarist Jason Buehler and percussionist Mark Shirazi have been playing music together for over ten years. Their intense rhythmic dialogue heard in their songs speaks volumes about the connection between the two as they layer runaway melodies and free-form noise into some of the most creative beat-based rock music you will ever hear. It’s not unrealistic to assume that you’ve never heard anything like it, as most everyone that’s ever witnessed their awe-inspiring live shows is left speechless, with nothing to compare it to. Most shocking is the fact that it’s largely improvisational and always live. No overdubs, no samples. Certainly not the first band to successfully trap virtuoso playing into loops that you can dance to, Nice Nice has definitely done so with the least amount of pretense, making it both intellectually stimulating and fun as hell to listen to. They say it, we believe it, and that settles it!

Lookbook: Announce East-Coast Tour

Minneapolis’ finest synth-pop duo will take their breathtaking live show to the East Coast and back in February. They are also hitting SXSW in March and have very busy tour plans for April as well. They will be touring to support their debut full-length CD and soon to drop 12″ LP

They will celebrate with a homecoming show on 2.27 at The Cedar Cultural Center with one of Best New Bands; No Bird Sing.
