DAVID BAZAN (and band) at Turf Club / 8:00 pm / 21+
with HEADLIGHTS
$13.00 adv | $13.00 door

Check back for photos from this show tomorrow!

Known for fronting the enigmatic rock band Pedro the Lion, David Bazan has spent most of his career crafting emotionally-charged narratives about life, spirituality, the Evangelical world in which he was raised–and his doubts about all three. On his 2009 solo debut, Curse Your Branches, Bazan weaves his (increasingly distant) relationship with God into a larger struggle with personal demons, from alcoholism to politics, in a way that’s more inspirational and good-humored than one might think. Hear his raspy drawl tonight at the Turf Club, where he’ll be joined (and perhaps, balanced?) by the catchy melodicism of indie-pop trio, Headlights. (Metro Magazine)

FRIGHTENED RABBIT

HEADLIGHTS

FRIGHTENED RABBIT - mp3

You are currently reading about Frightened Rabbit. They are a band who live in Glasgow and have done for some time. They record in bedrooms, cupboards and kitchens. Anyone can be in Frightened Rabbit. They have played some live shows in this city, but want to meet people from other cities, in order that they can come and blow into tubes when they play live. Lets keep pop music alive by getting it out of that dress and into a sweater.

HEADLIGHTS - mp3

Headlights are at the forefront of the resurgent scene happening in the twin cities of Champaign-Urbana. By exhibiting an uncanny ability to merge electronics with the barest of pop elements, they carve a unique niche for themselves that falls nicely between My Bloody Valentine and The Postal Service. Originally released as a limited edition CD EP, the band sold over 1,500 copies of “The Enemies EP” through two national tours and sales on the Polyvinyl web site. This release paves the way for their forthcoming full-length. Headlights have played with The Delgados, Headphones, Mates Of State, Mono, Crooked Fingers, Earlimart, and Explosions In The Sky.
