Curtiss A and friends with Lucy Michelle and The Velvet Lapelles, Romantica, and many more played last night in the main room at First Avenue. I tend to avoid tribute shows, but this was fantastic.

Photos from Lookbook at Sauce, 12.04.09
Lookbook played a high energy show at a packed Sauce Friday night. The venue was at capacity by the time they took the stage. To Kill a Petty Bougeousie and DJ Skull Buster opened. Look for the Lookbook More Cowbell! interview later in the week, and be sure to hit their CD remix release at 7th Street Entry next Saturday.

What's Going On This Weekend?

Luke Polipnick (iQuit Music Series) @ Rogue Buddha

October 15, 2009
Set One:
Luke Polipnick, Guitar + Laptop
Minneapolis debut of Polipnick’s piece; a combination of delicate, processed classical guitar textures and glitchy, pounding drill’n’bass. A very dynamic piece, it is alternately dark and bright, cold and warm, fragile and violent. It is fairly “classical” in design, in terms of the flow of events and contrasts. Luke will be improvising and playing some pre-conceived material against the computer track.
Set Two:
Luke Polipnick, Guitar;Erik Fratzke, Bass; Tim Glenn, Drums
The Beatles are in Big Trouble @ Turf Club
Tonight @ The Turf Club. The action is just about to begin. David Campbell spearheads Beatles covers with Big Trouble (Heiruspecs) and a few extra friends..

Dave Karr @ The Clown Lounge
From Adam Linz:
Special Clown Lounge tonight. When I was growing up there were a couple of musicians in town that I idolized and wanted to play with one day. Dave Karr was near the top of that list along with Irv Williams and Bobby Peterson. Tonight we have Dave’s Clown Lounge premiere along with JT on drums and myself on bass. If you’re a fan of jazz in any way this is to not be missed. Dave Karr is a legend here in the Twin Cities. Hope you can make it down to see why. By the second set we’re hoping to have a few guests as well. OK Hope this finds you well.
