Painted Saints / Pezzettino (Milwaukee, WI) @ The Bedlam

BEDLAM THEATRE GUEST PRODUCTION
Painted Saints & Pezzittino

Jan 27, 2010
sad bastard/heroin klezmer/spaghetti western/slavic tinged gutter blues

brought to you by paul fonfara, chris hepola, josh granowski.

Painted Saints hail from Denver/Minneapolis and do the ever so popular spaghetti western-heroin klezmer-chamber country-sad bastard thing. They write tin can and twine romances in a color of rust with backdrops of long wind swept open roads framed by tangled barbed wire and naked telephone poles. Their songs are of ashtray broken hearts and lansdscapes of beauty and sorrow borrowing harmonies from old eastern europe, the desert southwest and the sentiments of working class rust belt americana. they are also really into pompous descriptions.

Wed, Jan 27, 2010 – 10:00pm With Pezzetino. FREE!

Painted Saints @ The Whole

The Whole Music Club presents:

BLOODY BIJOU: DEAD ALIVE W/ PAINTED SAINTS

Join us for a night of blood, guts, and fine music. The Whole Music Club is proud to present it’s Bloody Bijou movies and music series this Spring of 2009. Join us for a brief but exciting romp though the bloodiest, slicing-est, dicing-est movies ever, joined by the finest in local music.

January 29th features the local band Painted Saints. The Painted Saints “take country-blues-folk at its finest and adds awe-inspiring cello, bar banter wisdom and a few wild cards for good measure, hearkening back to a mythical time when men were men, moonshine flowed freely and a musician couldn’t get by if he didn’t play a mean fiddle and whistle ‘For a Fistful of Dollars’ in his sleep.” (-Splendid)

Immediately following the set is the Peter Jackson-directed comic-thriller “Dead Alive”. This New Zealand-made film is notorious for being the “bloodiest movie ever made.” Zombies, dog-eating grandmothers, and a kung-fu priest all make appearances.

Coffman Memorial Union, The Whole.
Jan 29: 8pm.
