Saturday, January 23, the party continues at the Cedar Cultural Center for a early, all ages event. This show has long been in the works and we are so excited to be bringing you these four bands. We’ve got a couple other things up our sleeve for this show as well including some special guests, additional activities and surprises, from our favorite Twin Cities proprietors. Tickets go on sale this Friday November 20th at the Cedar Cultural Center and participating outlets.

PRIVATE DANCER
Trouble eyes

Malgré une pochette immonde surfant maladroitement sur le psychédélisme sixties, le label et la présence du guitariste de STNNNG ne pouvaient que me mettre l’eau à la bouche. Et si les Private Dancer ont décidé de ne pas prendre l’auditeur à rebrousse poil, comme savent si bien le faire STNNNG avec leur noise dissonante, ils n’en restent pas moins imaginatifs et corrosifs. Au fil des morceaux, les références du groupe s’échelonnent du rock sauvage des Stooges à la noisy pop des années 90. L’album débute ainsi plein d’énergie, toute guitare dehors, avec un remarquable “i see trouble”, avant de se poser sur une jolie ballade planante… Ainsi vont les Private Dancer. Noisy jusqu’au bout des ongles, mais jamais vraiment méchants. Dès le tubesque “She’s a Company Man” on comprend que les danseurs pourraient rappeler à certains les bien injustement oubliés Superchunk. Les trentenaires peuvent se frotter les mains ! Des guitares qui bavent, légèrement dissonantes (on ne se refait pas), de la fougue, du rock’n'roll et beaucoup de mélodies. A l’image de certains groupes sixties, Private Dancer alterne sans cesse débauches d’énergie rock primaire et ballades contemplatives… Entre attitude freaks et délires “peace and love”, le groupe remet au goût du jour une certaine idée de la musique, très en vogue dans les sixties, voire les seventies. Mais rien à voir avec les pompeuseries progressistes. Ici, c’est droit au but, kick out the jam motherfucker… et ce, que ce soit dans le calme ou le sauvage. Et vu le talent des membres du groupe, ça ne pouvait que fonctionner, avec à la clé son petit lot de tubes.
Alors, je ne dis pas que nous sommes en face du disque de l’année, ‘Trouble Eyes’ possède bien quelques longueurs, mais il faut avouer que la spontanéité de ce groupe fait un bien fou…

Over the tracks, references ranging group of wild rock Stooges to the noisy pop of the 90s. The album begins full of energy, any guitar outside, with a remarkable “i see trouble”, before landing on a pretty ballad plan … So will the Private Dancer. Noisy until the end of nails, but never really bad. From the tubesque “She’s a Company Man” we understand that the dancers might remind some of the unjustly forgotten Superchunk. The thirtysomethings can rub their hands! Guitars that drool, slightly dissonant (you do not resurfaced), the spirit of rock’n'roll and a lot of melodies. Just like some groups sixties, Private Dancer alternates ever debauchery primary energy rock and contemplative ballads … Between attitude freaks and delusions “peace and love”, the group calls for every day a certain idea of music, very Popular in the sixties and even seventies. But nothing to do with pompeuseries progressive. Here is right on goal, kick out the jam … and this motherfucker, either peacefully or in the wild. And given the talent of the group, it could only operate with the key to his small batches of tubes. So I’m not saying that we are in front of the disc of the year, ‘Trouble Eyes’ has a few lengths, but I must admit that the spontaneity of this group is a crazy …
