- Drummer extraordinaire Dave King (The Bad Plus,Happy Apple) returns to Making Music to preview his weekend of shows at the Walker Art Center, King for Two Days. Our conversation will focus on his newest collaboration projects, Golden Valley Is Now, and The Dave King Trucking Company, which will premiere as part of the weekend’s music extravaganza March 12 & 13. Special live guest cameos expected…
Co-presented with the Walker Art Center.
Transportation Information: Bus Route 6 runs every 30 minutes between the U of M East Bank Campus and Walker Art Center. Trip takes 30 minutes.

The Bad Plus reestablish their Midwestern roots with their annual appearance at the Dakota, where they first appeared under the name “Dave King Trio” in 2000. With their fiercely iconoclastic sound and brilliant original music, they have achieved a level of success that few jazz groups have ever elevated to.

Trio music featuring Dave King on skins, Adam Linz on the tub, and Scott Fultz on the cane. We’ll be playing some of the old FKG book, minus the G. Also some music by Kenny Loggins, Pat Benatar, and Tears For Fears. Please come out and celebrate these fine composers with us.
